Workplace Harassment: How the POSH Act Protects You
Every organisation with ten or more employees must have an Internal Committee. Here is how to raise a complaint and what to expect.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 - the POSH Act - requires employers to provide a safe workplace and a fair complaint process.
Raising a complaint
A written complaint can be made to the Internal Committee within three months of the incident. The committee must complete its inquiry within 90 days.
Your protections
- Confidentiality of your identity and complaint
- Interim relief such as a transfer or leave
- Protection against retaliation
If your organisation has no Internal Committee, you can approach the Local Committee set up by the district officer.
